Life teaches us lessons. That’s just how living works. At times we might feel that we have no control, but we have a lot more control than you might think.
Here are 6 ways to make life easier!
#1. Live in the Now– Living in the NOW means to be present where ever you happen to be…whenever you happen to be there. Think about how many problems you could cross off your list if you were mentally, emotionally, and just physically present!
- Instead of drifting off at work-focus on getting the job done
- Instead of being distracted on your phone while with loved ones-pay them genuine attention
- Instead of putting aside bills and items on your to-do list-tackle challenges personally one-by-one
- Instead of living in the past and/or in the future- Get productive and BE in the NOW!
#2. Find Mentors- First, recognize that there is no-one on this earth who is exactly like you! But, there are more than 7 billion people out there who have made a ton of successful decisions, crippling mistakes, and have experienced so many lessons. Do some research and figure out what kind of person you want to be. Determine what stage you are in your life and find someone who has done it and learn from them!
- Listen to their advice
- Learn about their successes and study their failures- Understand from their mistakes & Learn From THEM
- Listen to their strategies and actually attempt to apply them whether you agree or not
- Tap into their network
#3. Make a “To Do” List– When life feels like a hurricane blowing around you, realize that you can control it. It may feel like there are 100 things to do; but, truthfully you might have 5 really pressing issues and 10 not so important clouding your vision. Write them down and check them off!
- Start using a calendar if you don’t already- if you do spruce it up
- Create short term and long term goals
- Devise plans to obtain goals
- Organize your schedule and adhere to it
#4. Learn (Other People’s) Hard Knock Lessons- The truth is that going through life’s lessons really does help define who we are as individuals; but, there is absolutely nothing wrong with trying to design a strategy to navigate through life’s struggles by learning from others. Give it a shot! Try and beat the odds and learn from someone else’s mistakes!
- Read biographies and listen to podcasts about stories and people that inspire you
- Notice how historical patterns run in cycles and recognize ebbs & flows of cultural shifts- apply that knowledge to your life so that you don’t get caught in a downward flowing project
- Talk to your family and friends about successes and failures and LISTEN
#5. Don’t Overspend– Just trust me on this one!
- Make a budget and follow it. You’ll thank me for it later!
- Ask your mentor or a financial planner about strategies to accomplish this!
#6. Forgive– A lot of energy is expended when we get hurt or angry. Carrying around resentment is a heavy weight to burden. Understanding problems and taking time to resolve issues with those we love and care about can prove to eliminate a lot of stress and frustration in our lives.
- Be clear about disagreements
- Leave emotion at the door
- Realize that you do not have to agree to forgive someone
- Forgive for YOURSELF
- Protect yourself from letting the issue repeat itself
